I am one of millions of football fans with a passion for the World Game. I played football and basketball since I was a kid, and always loved both sports (among others). I believe that football thrives beyond the English Premier League, Italian Serie A, French Ligue, Spanish Primera Liga, German Bundesliga, and countless Cups around the World. If I am not writing, you can find me in the field or the court kicking, juggling, dribbling, and kicking like there's no tomorrow.

The Officiating Issue

As a result of increasing game call disputes which make football very complicated, Michel Platini proposes a plan which appears controversial. His proposal: use two extra assistans to study and decide on disputed goals, which could possibly take effect by the 2012 European Championship. The controversial proposal also plans to employ more referees in the field in order to minimize human error significantly, instead of creating technology to perfectly monitor each player’s moves.

This seems to be a bold move yet not one of the most effective solutions to solve bad calls in football. First of all, it is not feasible if this is going to help solve the recession. It may provide new jobs, however at the expense of shedding out more money which could have been invested for highly trained referees. So what is the ultimate solution?

Stick with the standard three man officiating team (one referee and two linesmen) and just play on until a smarter solution stems, without sacrificing huge money.
