I am one of millions of football fans with a passion for the World Game. I played football and basketball since I was a kid, and always loved both sports (among others). I believe that football thrives beyond the English Premier League, Italian Serie A, French Ligue, Spanish Primera Liga, German Bundesliga, and countless Cups around the World. If I am not writing, you can find me in the field or the court kicking, juggling, dribbling, and kicking like there's no tomorrow.

Argentina VS Germany 2006 Quarterfinals

One of the greatest games during the FIFA World Cup 2006 was close match between Argentina and Germany. It was an emotional win for Germany, and a heart-breaking loss for Argentina. The two countries met in the quartefinals of the tounament.

The game was already intense evn during the first few minutes of the match. The two teams kept exchanging shots, until the 49th minute. Roberto Ayala scored the first goal of Argentina, which is a header from the brilliant corner kick of Juan Riquelme. Michael Ballack responded with just 10 minutes let in duration, by crossing a pass flicked on by Tom Borowski which Miroslav Klose headed home. During the penalty, Germany scored all their goals, while Argentina missed two penalties by Ayala and Esteban Cambiasso, which sent Germany into victory.

It was a great game played by two powerful teams. I am looking forward for a rematch between the two teams in the World Cup.
