Getting Physical RSS

I am one of millions of football fans with a passion for the World Game. I played football and basketball since I was a kid, and always loved both sports (among others). I believe that football thrives beyond the English Premier League, Italian Serie A, French Ligue, Spanish Primera Liga, German Bundesliga, and countless Cups around the World. If I am not writing, you can find me in the field or the court kicking, juggling, dribbling, and kicking like there's no tomorrow.

If you have any questions or insights about my blogs, please do not hesitate to e-mail me.

Football For The Blind

I was surprised to find out about the British Blind Sport. It feels good to see a football league which is especially made for visually impaired players. It was a great opportunity for these people to be able to play competitive football regardless of their physical handicap. The FA or Football Association has done a fantastic job in running the English Blind Team and the England Partially Sighted Team.

The rules seemed very interesting because they control the visually impaired players in playing an orderly and fair manner. Some of the rules are the following: the game should be played on a flat surface, there should be only five players per team, the goalkeeper is sighted yet can not leave the area, football must contain ball bearings to produce a sound when it moves, and no off side rules.

It’s really a great thing to know that football also serves our less fortunate brothers and sisters. The British Blind Sport is a testament that inspiration and hope is very much alive.
