Getting Physical - America's Forgotten Sport

I am one of millions of football fans with a passion for the World Game. I played football and basketball since I was a kid, and always loved both sports (among others). I believe that football thrives beyond the English Premier League, Italian Serie A, French Ligue, Spanish Primera Liga, German Bundesliga, and countless Cups around the World. If I am not writing, you can find me in the field or the court kicking, juggling, dribbling, and kicking like there's no tomorrow.

America’s Forgotten Sport

Baseball has been America’s favorite pastime. Today, Basketball, American Football, Hockey, and Golf occupy a bulk of the nation’s sporting activities. As the World Game gains more acceptance in other countries, America has forgotten about it.

Many World Cup tournaments have passed, with Team USA not even close to entering the World Cup Championship. The popularity of other leagues in America such as the National Basketball Association, the National Football League, and the National Hockey League have hindered soccer from growing. Another hinderance is the lack of support from the Americans, who are still engrossed in their own respective sports. It hurts to see a nation who has the capacity to compete for international soccer to fail.

Only time will tell when America would rise in the international scene. Who knows maybe years from now, Team USA would finally win the World Cup, and be recognized in its country as a soccer nation, and in the whole world as a football nation.
